I've been owning Canelle for over 2 years so I discovered many little details about her so for today's blog post I'll be revealing you 10 facts you (probably) don't know about Canelle.

1. Canelle was previously named Veta and even before she was named Patricia. Despite the fact that I changed her name when I got her, this his how she is registered in her passport and all of her official documents.

2. Speaking about her papers, she is born in a Romanian Sport Horse farm, she is not registered as a Romanian Sport Horse and I know only her sire. I know the name of her dam but I found no information in any database about her.

3. All the horses born in 2008 from the barn where I got her had a name starting with the letter "V" so I decided that her new name will start with the same letter. I spend 3 days trying to find a name and I really liked the name "Versailles" or "Vichy" and I'm so thankful that I haven't chosen one of those names. The final choice was between "Sienna" (Which is a brown pigment, this name idea was given by an artist friend) and "Canelle" which means cinnamon in french but I was really stupid at that moment and I made a spelling mistake when I decided her name so actually in french cinnamon is spelled "cannelle" but to be honest I find it looks better with only one "N".

4. She has a few scratches and marks on her body. For example she has a scar on her right back fetlock. I have no idea where she got that scar because when I got her she already had it. She also has a little circle on her left front pastern that has only dried skin. This is because she got a huge infection at that leg while we were at a training trip in Bulgaria.

5. I tried to teach her several tricks but the one she really knows is the "hug" where I stand next to her front leg and she hugs me with her neck. She also knew that when I touch her pastern with a crop she lifts her leg. Some other things she knows are to follow me (trot when I run and stop when I stop) and to walk backwards without any lead rope.

6. It's really hard to free lounge her if I don't have a whip in my hand because he stays next to me like a glue stick. Once we had to free lounge her because we were covering the arena. When we let her in the arena where she was supposed to run and get rid of her extra energy she got during the 3 days when we were not able to ride the horses. It was impossible to make her move if I was not running. I tried several times to scare her but she wanted to play with me :))

7. She is the definition of the moody mare. She loves to buck (there are no training when she doesn't buck at least once) and if she doesn't want to do something her main defense is to rear. This is soooooo annoying because she refused a few times to jump at the shows and she just kept rearing.

8. Canelle is my first horse and I love her with all my heart. She knows the fact that I love her a lot and whatever she does I'll always love her the same and she takes advantage of that to buck and rear and do whatever she wants (she is not doing any of her little whims with my trainer).

9. She hates all the other horses. She broke so many planks and even some iron bars of her stall between her and her other horses. Despite that she hates being alone, for example when he are hacking she refuses to walk if she doesn't have a horse in front of her. It's also really hard to load her in the trailer if there is no other horse loaded before her.

10. She is a little princess and loves being the center of the attention. Her specialty is to put her nose between the iron bars of her stall and claim attention. I can't even stay on my phone in front of her stall because she tries to bite me or eat my hair to make me stay with her.

That's it, now you know a a little bit better my Canelle :))
